Frequently asked Questions
Does coaching work?
In a word, yes! But you have to be committed. I won't coach you if you are half-hearted about it, because you will not achieve the objectives you want. In practise, this means not giving up after a couple of sessions, postponing sessions due to lack of progress, or being unwilling to move out of your comfort zone.
I have coached dozens of clients who have been thrilled with the way they have changed their lives. These clients have committed to coaching and stuck with it even when the going was tough at times. How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different, but usually 6 - 8 sessions over 3-6 months. Why not start with your FREE Life Evaluation More Info
Telephone or face-to-face sessions?
Both work well. Some clients find they are less inhibited with phone sessions and they are very time-efficient. You can combine phone or personal - it's what suits you.
Why can't I just talk to a friend?
You can - but coaching is not the same as talking to a friend. Your friends are not trained coaches. You are not accountable to them and, quite honestly, if your friends could help- why haven't they done so already?
Do coaches give advice?
No. It is important that any decisions you make are yours, not ours. We will support, motivate and challenge you, but never tell you what to do with your life.
How should I choose a coach?
As an absolute minimum, your coach should have a recognised coaching qualification and coaching experience. Personal coaching is different from training or HR roles. Your coach should be a member of a recognised, independent coaching organisation. www.associationforcoaching.comWhat about the cost?
Coaching is an investment. You are making important changes to your life, so the cost of coaching is a very small percentage of your income as those changes should last for many years.
